Stephen Healy was artist in residence at Royston Youth Action from early 2001. A selection of the large format images produced during his time in the area are hung permanently in The Rainbow Hall, part of the Spire Park site. The commission was launched on the 4th October 2001 at a special dinner held in the Hall.
Stephen's process took him beyond the bounds of the Youth Action building - with advice from local young people he has been following the dogs and the dog owners of the area - taking
their portraits and, in the process, learning about and recording
images from the north east area of Glasgow.
Stephen has been welcomed by so many local people with such generosity - folk are proud of their dogs, they are an important
and sometimes controversial aspect of what makes up the community.
